WE BOUGHT THE CAR FOR OPERATION NOT FOR ODUAH(N255 MILLION CAR SCANDAL)
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Friday said the two BMW cars alleged to have been purchased by Nigeria's Minister of Aviation Princess Stella Oduah were bought for operational use of the NCAA.
The Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Fola Akinkuotu, told newsmen in Abuja that due process were followed to get the acquisition of the vehicle.
Denying media reports that the vehicle was acquired for the Minister, he said: "First, we make haste to state that aviation is a global industry and the NCAA, the regulator of the industry in Nigeria very often host dignitaries from the ICAO, IATA, US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), African Airline Association (AFRAA), African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC), The Banjul Accord Group (BAG), Civil Air Navigation Service Organisation (CANSO), Airport Council International (ACI), among others.
"It is internationally customary to convey our Minister and these visiting foreign dignitaries in security vehicle whenever they are in Nigeria. It must be noted that during such visitations, the security of members of the delegations is the sole responsible of the host country.
"The vehicles are, therefore, in the pool of NCAA for these special assignments and are available at NCAA office and can be shown to you.
"Perhaps, it is also pertinent to disclose that this is not the first time the agency has procure high security vehicles for the aforementioned purposes. In any case, all necessary procurement and due process were followed."
